Competition is fierce, but not in the way you would expect, because we combine our sports day with a banquet of home-made international foods, lovingly prepared by the mums and dads of our school’s community – who remarkably and skillfully combine healthy with delicious.

Parents and staff also join forces to offer a wide range of sport games that include: tug-of-war, pillow fights, dressing up relay races, egg and spoon races and other highly inventive a often quite hilarious competitions for the pupils to participate in. Typically we also manage to include some fun side-shows such as pony-rides and face-painting.

The games are played in houses, with children from different classes competing to win points for their house. This encourages students and parents to mix across the years. Cheering and laughter ripples across the campus.

CIPA, our parents’ association take a lead role in coordinating the event, and what’s nice is that nobody feels roped in to doing anything. Sports day is also used as a second fundraising event, and the money collected is used by CIPA to co-fund improvements to the school’s facilities or equipment. Everyone is so generous with their time and energy and many hands do make light work.

There are lots of sports at Castelli

Sports Day is the final event in the school’s sport’s calendar. Throughout the year there are regular inter-school football matches (friendly and league matches) between Castelli International School and other international schools in Rome. Castelli teams often win, but when they don’t they are always complimented for their exceptional sportsmanship. There are also weekly physical education lessons, where we introduce students to a range of sports, and aerobic activities, as well as after-school sports clubs with professional coaching.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][us_single_image image=”1811″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
