Our 8th Grade students in the Middle School have been working hard to create artworks that raise awareness and make bold statements about the fragility of our environment and the future of our planet.

They were much inspired by Pablo Picasso’s Guernica, the powerful black-and-white oil painting executed by Spanish artist Pablo Picasso in 1937 following the German bombing of the Basque city, and referenced the artist’s symbolism and monochromatic colours to make their own protest art.

Their artwork is an expression of frustration and anger at what is happening to their world but carries with it the seeds of hope that real change can be brought about by our actions.
